Registration / Bidding

2020 Wine Auction: LOT 207 – 2009 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, La Tâche
  • Opened on Tuesday, November 17 at 12 pm EST
  • Closed on Tuesday, November 24 at 9 pm EST
  • Bidding was anonymous, simple and secure
    • Bidders registered at IronGateAuctions.com with name, phone number and email address
    • Registrants could create their own auction item wish list and make anonymous bids throughout the duration of the auction
    • Bidders received notifications for bids, outbids and won bids
  • Bids could be placed from anywhere across Canada
  • The online auction catalogue could be searched by producer, region and sub-region, vintage and value
  • The platform featured a real-time countdown clock that tracked the time remaining in auction down to the second
  • There was no cost to register and place bids
  • By registering to bid, all bidders acknowledged that the wine or other alcoholic beverages offered for sale at the Auction may not have been tested by the Liquor Control Board of Ontario.
  • All bidders/purchasers of wine or other alcoholic beverages through the Auction must be 19 years of age or older, and agree to the full Auction Terms and Conditions listed below and on the IronGateAuction.com website.

Auction Highlights

Thanks to the generosity of our wine donors, the online catalogue featured wines from many regions of the world. The catalogue included images of approx. 500 wine lots and could be searched by producer, region, sub-region, vintage and value.

Some rare and exceptional lots included:

  • 1 bottle of 1869 Château Lafite Rothschild
  • 1 bottle of 1988 Château Petrus
  • 1 bottle (6 litre) of 2006 Ornellaia Vendemmia d’Artista – one of only 20 in the world
  • 1 bottle of 2009 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti La Tâche
  • 31 bottles of Dunn Howell Mountain, spanning vintages 1986 to 2007 – all signed by the winemaker
  • many other fine wines from the great producers, including special vintages and over-sized bottles.

Whether adding to their collection or just starting out as a wine collector, bidders were given the opportunity to bid on these outstanding wines and many more.

We thank our Fine Wine Auction appraiser, Robert Jull of Vinifera Wine Services, for his continued expertise and professionalism.

We also thank Iron Gate Private Wine Management for their excellent management of our wine inventory and their assistance with the implementation of the 2020 online auction.

We are grateful for the support of auctioneer Stephen Ranger of Ranger Wine, Canada’s most respected and experienced auctioneer of Fine and Rare Wine.


Proceeds from the auction support the Toronto Symphony Orchestra’s vital music and education activities in the community.


Donations to the Auction are eligible for a charitable income tax receipt based on the appraised value of the wine in accordance with Canada Revenue Agency guidelines.


The TSO Fine Wine Charity Auction is a project of the Toronto Symphony Volunteer Committee.
